Two first year Tigers were crowned Champions of the "Shootout at Rustic Canyon" on Monday - involving Oxy, Westmont College and Providence College.
The Tiger women were led by first year player Rachel Aujero (Fresno, CA) participating in her first collegiate event. Rachel shot a fine score of 80 on the very long and difficult Rustic Canyon Golf Course.
The low medalist for the men's event was First Year Miles Eastman (Portland, Oregon) who bested the field with an excellent two over par 74. He was followed closely by Junior Josh Wong (Vancouver, BC) with a 75.
In the team action, the Tiger Men finished second to Westmont 308-310. The Tiger women due to academic conflicts and injuries did not field a full team, but were represented well by Rachel as the individual champion.
Rustic Canyon is known as one of the finest golf courses in the state of California and rarely hosts collegiate events. It is designed by the same architect, Gilk Hanse, who designed the golf course for the 2016 Rio Olympics.
Next Competition: The Tigers return to action at the Chapman Invitational October 9 and 10 at Los Serranos GC.
