Los Angeles, CA – Last week, the Occidental men's soccer team bagged multiple Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference awards.  One of the biggest awards was head coach Rod Lafaurie and the men's soccer coaching staff being named as the SCIAC Coaching Staff of the Year!

Lafaurie, along with assistant coaches Brian Wright, Fabien Segalini, Ernesto Ramirez, Cameron Meeker, and Majid Saleh, received the conference recognition after the team posted an overall record of 11-3-3, a conference record of 8-1-3, and the program's first ever SCIAC regular-season title.  With the aid of the coaching staff, the Tigers had eight student-athletes receive individual SCIAC honors for a program high.

Lafaurie was named the head coach of the Tigers in 2010.  Under his tutelage, Oxy has made it to the SCIAC semifinals six times (2014, 2015, 2018, 2019, 2022, 2023) and to the finals three times (2018, 2022, 2023).  After every win this season, including the SCIAC Championship, Lafaurie has repeatedly echoed, "more work to be done."

The Oxy men's soccer team and coaching staff left for San Antonio, TX today for round one of the NCAA DIII Championship Tournament.  On Saturday they will face the University of St. Thomas (TX).  If they win, they will advance to the second round and either face Trinity or University of Texas, Dallas on Sunday.
