Riverside, CA –  Last Saturday, the Occidental cross country teams traveled to UC Riverside for the annual invitation.  Oxy competed in the Open 8k and 5k.  The Tigers came in second place on the men's side and eighth place on the women's side.

The men's team claimed second place with 83 points (3-6-11-23-40-59-70), with Amir Barkan leading the team.  Barkan finished in third place with a time of 25:06.7.  He was followed by Aidan Lindhe-Johan who finished in sixth place with a personal record time of 25:11.6, a 43-second drop from the UCR Invitational of 2022.  Renn Stearns took 12th place with a time of 25-15.5, making for a massive personal record that exceeded a minute.  Stearns previous 8k record was 26:26.8 at the 2022 Highlander Invitational.  Matthew Vickers and Sloan Wittliff rounded out the top five with personal records of their own, running 25:53.3 and 26:17.0, respectively.  

The teams travel to California State University, San Marcos for 2023 Cougar Challenge.  The women will race at 8:30 a.m. and the men will race at approximately 9:15 a.m. after the women's race ends.
