KEY NOTES
After a narrow loss to the eventual SCIAC Champion and sweet-sixteen bound Claremont-M-S in the conference semis, the Tigers look to rebound and reach the NCAA tournament for the second time in three years.
Â
A light conference schedule plays the Tigers' favor. Oxy will face the SCIAC's top-two teams from a season ago just once. They'll face the Stags at home on October 11 and travel to Redlands on October 4.
Â
They face last-place Pomona-Pitzer, fourth-place Cal Lutheran, fifth-place Chapman and sixth-place La Verne twice. None of those teams finished with a record over .500.
Â
The Tigers graduated 24 goals from a season ago, but
Tyler Na-Nakornpanom – who averaged six goals across his first two seasons – looks to see more scoring opportunities after posting a two-goal season a year ago.
Devin Bening,
Ayden Rieke-Wey and
Justin Nishimoto are two forwards that should get more playing time this fall. The Tigers retained top midfielders
Vicente Navarro and
Aiden Aley who earned All-SCIAC honors last season.
Â
WHERE TO WATCH
Catch the Tigers' nine home games at Patterson Field on the campus of Occidental College. All Oxy home games and visiting SCIAC contests can be streamed live on FloCollege – aside from the 8/24 exhibition against Nobel.
