LOS ANGELES, Calif. - Melanie Rodriguez was named SCIAC Defensive Athlete of the Week on Monday, September 22. 

The Tigers' keeper helped an Oxy team that went 0-10-2 in SCIAC play a season ago to a 1-0 shutout win over La Verne on Wednesday, and a 1-1 tie to No. 9 Pomona-Pitzer on Saturday. Rodriguez posted six saves in the tie against the Sagehens, and was just five minutes away from another shut out and huge upset victory.

Rodriguez and women's soccer are back in action on Wednesday, September 24 to take on Whittier at home in game two of a double header with the men's team.
