LOS ANGELES, Calif. — Occidental fell to Pacific University (Ore.) in two non-conference matchups at Bell Field, with final scores of 13-1 and 3-1.
GAME 1, L, 13-1
In the first game, Occidental managed four hits and scored its lone run in the third inning, while Pacific tallied 17 hits and scored in three separate innings to secure a decisive victory.Â
The Tigers took an early lead in the third inning when
Sophia Siu walked and stole second base.
Jordan Lebsock followed with a single to right field, driving in Siu for the first run of the game, making it 1-0 in favor of Occidental after the third inning.Â
However, Pacific responded strongly in the fourth, loading the bases and driving in four runs. They continued their momentum in the fifth inning, tacking on four more runs to pull away for a 12-run victory.
GAME 2, L, 3-1
In the second game, Occidental (0-8) managed five hits and scored its only run in the fourth inning, while Pacific University (Ore.) (5-1) capitalized with a three-run fourth inning to secure a victory.Â
The game was decided in the fourth inning. After three scoreless innings from both teams, both teams' offensives scored all of their runs in the frame.Â
Pacific broke the deadlock with a pair of triples that netted them three runs in the fourth. The Tigers responded in the bottom of the fourth when
Jordan Lebsock reached on an error, and
Justice Tiberi, pinch running, scored on
Lehua Acoba's RBI single, making it 3-1 at the end of the fourth inning.Â
The remaining innings saw no further scoring, despite the Tigers' efforts, including hits by
Riko Hibino and
Reagan Rosenthal in the seventh inning.
Jacynda Lindsay pitched a complete game in the second matchup, allowing four hits and three earned runs over seven innings while striking out four batters. Hibino recorded two hits in three at-bats, leading all hitters, and Acoba contributed with one hit and one RBI, driving in the only run for the team.
The Tigers are back in action on Thursday with two games against Gustavus Adolphus at Bell Field.
