REDLANDS, Calif. — Occidental (3-12, 0-4 SCIAC) fell to the No. 10 University of Redlands (14-4, 3-1 SCIAC) with a final score of 7–2 on Friday afternoon.
Occidental faced a challenging matchup against Redlands. The speedy Bulldogs opened the scoring in the first inning with a single to center field by Katlyn Gandara, driving in Leila Gomez. Redlands led 1–0 after the first.
In the second inning, Occidental responded.
Jordan Lebsock singled and advanced to third on a double by
Kadence Bernard.
Sam Palacio then singled to right, allowing Lebsock to score. Despite this effort, Redlands capitalized on two throwing errors to score twice, making it 3–1 in favor of Redlands after the second.
The third inning saw Redlands extend its lead. Jenay Scott tripled and was driven in by Adyson Kim's single. Later, Brooklyn Bard singled, bringing in another run. Redlands increased its lead to 5–1 after the third.
In the fourth inning, Redlands continued its scoring, benefiting from a fielding error that allowed two unearned runs. The score was 7–1 after the fourth.
Occidental added another run in the fifth.
Amarie Bolen singled and was replaced by pinch runner
Courtney Miles, who advanced on a wild pitch and scored on a single by
Reagan Rosenthal. The score stood at 7–2 after the fifth.
The final innings saw no further scoring from either team, and the game concluded with Redlands securing a 7–2 victory.
Lebsock contributed significantly by scoring a run and recording a hit. Lindsay pitched a complete game, allowing three earned runs over 6 innings. Bernard added a double and collected a hit, aiding the team's efforts. Palacio drove in a run and secured a hit, bolstering the lineup's performance.
