LOS ANGELESPedro Aldape (Sherman Oaks) went 2 for 5 with 3 RBIs, Victor Munoz (La Verne) was 3 for 4 with 3 RBIs and the Occidental College baseball team cruised past Caltech 10-3 at Anderson Field in the first of its four remaining regular-season single games.

Oxy hosts second-place Pomona-Pitzer in the second game of its Saturday doubleheader at 3 p.m.

Alec Strain (Sacramento) got the start and the victory for the Tigers (24-12, 15-10 SCIAC), which came into the day just a half game back of Redlands for the No. 3 seed. Strain gave up two earned runs in six innings of work, striking out two batters.

Daniel Chou was charged with the loss for the Beavers.

With three games to go, Oxy is in a good spot to make the inaugural four-team SCIAC Postseason Baseball Tournament. After facing the Sagehens (25-11, 18-7 SCIAC), Oxy finishes the season at third-place Redlands (19-15, 15-10) on Sunday and at eighth-place Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (8-26, 5-20 SCIAC) on Tuesday.

Aldape drove in two runs with a single to put Oxy up 2-1 in the third and then Scott Hong (Los Angeles) hit a solo home run down the left field line that led off a two-run fifth. Oxy blew the game open in the seventh, scoring six more runs to put the game out of reach.

Oxy designated hitter Johnathan Brooks (Huntington Beach), who came into the game fifth in the SCIAC with a .415 batting average, went 3 for 3 with two runs scored.

Oxy shortstop Logan Allen (Atascadero) went 3 for 5 with two runs scored, an RBI and two stolen bases.

Oxy honored five seniors who have been part of the Oxy baseball resurgence with a brief pregame ceremony. Aldape, Hong and Allen — who've been somewhat of a "Big Three" for Oxy the past two seasons — along with Jacob Lee (Olympia, Wash.) and Jacob Coleman (San Diego) were all celebrated with their families.
