Box Score 2 LOS ANGELES — The Occidental baseball team completed its sweep of Caltech, beating the Beavers in a doubleheader at Anderson Field on Saturday.
Devon DeRaad led the way, going 4 for 7 on the day with a home run, three RBIs, three runs scored and a double.
Jack Brancheau and Bryan Smith each had good days at the plate too.
Brancheau was 3 for 6 with four runs scored, three RBIs and a pair of doubles.
Smith went 2 for 9 with two runs, three RBIs and a home run.
Oxy won Game 1, 6-2 and Game 2, 14-4.
Nolan Watson started Game 1, throwing five scorless innings for the victory. Dean Abramson added 1.1 innings of scoreless relief work.
Nolan McCarthy earned the win in Game 2 for Oxy.
Season Impact: The Tigers improve to 9-5 overall and 7-2 in SCIAC play, moving into a tie for first place with La Verne.
Caltech falls to 2-14 and 0-9.
Next Game: Oxy is back in action in a non-conference game against Kean on Wednesday. Oxy resumes its quest to defend its SCIAC Championship against Claremont-Mudd-Scripps on March 24.
