LOS ANGELES — The Occidental baseball team lost a pair of games to Chapman on Saturday, finishing the season one game out of the four-team SCIAC Postseason tournament.

Oxy finishes the year tied for fifth place at 11-13 in SCIAC and went 19-20 overall.

As of Saturday afternoon with games around the conference in progress, Oxy was in the same boat as Pomona-Pitzer, Whittier and Cal Lutheran as teams that could finish as high as fourth or as low as seventh based on how competitive the records were among those teams.

The Tigers said goodbye to four seniors playing in their last games. Dean Abramson, Josh Cohen, Derek Sun and Jeff Oki all finished their careers.

Cohen was among the best pitchers in the SCIAC this season and Oxy's Friday starter. His ERA of 2.87 was fifth in conference competition and his 58 strikeouts were third best in the league.

Abramson was a do-it-all guy for the Tigers. After recovering from an arm injury that forced him to change his delivery angle, he became a submarine pitcher. He was also Oxy's back up catcher and when Jarred Baur went down with an injury became the starter.

Jeff Ohki played in 32 games in two years for the Tigers and Derek Sun played in 72 games in four years.
