Los Angeles, CA — The Oxy baseball team beat the Whittier Poets on Friday Afternoon in a game that went down to the bottom of the 9th.
Right Fielder Preston Chong opened up the scoring for the Tigers in the 1st inning when he stole home to tie the game at 1-1. Oxy took a 4-2 lead in the 5th inning thanks to RBIs by Left Fielder Antonio Andrade and Third Baseman Michael Ingram. In the bottom of the 9th inning with the Poets up 5-4, Pinch Hitter Andrew Snyder hit a solo home run to tie the game at five all. The Tigers won the game later in the inning when Ingram was walked with the bases loaded.
Oxy pitcher Diego Ramirez started the game and went eight innings while throwing eight strikeouts. Pitcher Caleb Reyes entered the game in the 9th inning and earned the win.
Next Game: The Tigers will finish the series with the Poets in a doubleheader on Saturday at Whittier.
