La Verne, CA — After losing the first game on Saturday against La Verne 8-0, the Oxy Tigers rallied to win the second game of the doubleheader 12-7.
The Leopards were led in the first game by Pitcher Gerald Terry who pitched eight innings and allowed zero runs. Oxy Pitcher Jon Thoren went six innings while only allowing one earned run. The Leopards outhit the Tigers 9-5 in the first game.
Oxy scored 12 unanswered runs in the second game to complete the comeback. Despite being down 7-0 heading into the 5th inning, the Tigers offense went to work and scored nine runs in the inning. The biggest moment of the 5th inning was Left Fielder Antonio Andrade's grand slam which brought the Tigers within one run of the Leopards. In the 9th inning, Andrade hit a double which brought in two more insurance runs for the Tigers. Andrade, Shortstop Nolan Upchurch, and First Baseman Ari Solomon led the team with two hits each. Oxy Pitcher Caleb Reyes went more than five innings and allowed zero runs to earn the win.
Next Game: The Tigers will start a series at Chapman University on Friday Afternoon.
