Los Angeles, CA — The Occidental Tigers defeated the Chapman Panthers 11-10 at home on Saturday after losing the day's first game 6-1.
In the first game of the doubleheader, the Panthers took the lead in the 3rd inning and the Tigers weren't able to come back. Center Fielder Ryan Cacatian homered for the Tigers in the 8th inning to make the game 6-1. Cacatian also led the team with two hits in the game.
Oxy controlled much of the second game and held off a late run by Chapman to take the win. The Tigers got on the board in the 2nd inning off of a triple from Right Fielder Andrew Snyder to give Oxy a 2-0 lead. The Tigers showed up on defense too as Left Fielder Antonio Andrade made an impressive diving catch to end the top of the 4th inning. Andrade followed up his superb defensive play with a two-run homer in the bottom of the 5th inning. The Oxy offense really found their rhythm in the 6th inning as the team scored six runs to make it an 11-4 game.
Oxy Pitcher Caleb Reyes pitched eight innings while only letting up five hits and throwing seven strikeouts.
Next Game: The Tigers will host Claremont-Mudd-Scripps on Friday afternoon before finishing the series with a doubleheader in Claremont.
