Los Angeles, CA — The Occidental baseball team handily defeated the Caltech Beavers on Friday afternoon's series opener.
Designated Hitter Ari Solomon gave the Tigers the lead with a two-run homer in the 3rd inning to make the game 5-3. Following a four-run burst in the 5th inning, Oxy Left Fielder Antonio Andrade hit a two-run home to put the Tigers up 11-3. Center Fielder Ryan Cacatian added to the lead in the 7th inning with a solo home run. The Tigers combined for 14 hits throughout the game.
The Tigers were equally as dominant on defense as they only allowed three runs. Oxy Pitcher Caleb Reyes pitched the whole game and had 11 strikeouts. The game ended after the 7th inning.
