Box Score Los Angeles, CA -- The Tigers baseball team was back in action Saturday afternoon to play their second game of the day against the Whitman College Blues.
The game started off well for the Tigers, with a shutout inning on the mound from Jack Winterbauer and a leadoff triple to right center for Lou Martineau to bring momentum on Oxy's side.
Declan Sklut was called into relief early into Game 2 after the Blues put together a rally, and proved immediately to be effective. Sklut pitched 2.2 innings while allowing 1 hit, 0 runs, and striking out 3.
The Tigers chipped away at Whitman's early lead in the bottom of the 2nd and 3rd innings. Junior AJ Naha singled in the 2nd to bring home Jeffery Cambra, and after stealing second base Naha scored on an RBI single by Nolan Upchurch. The 3rd inning saw both Tom Stoodt and Garrett Palme come home to bring the score to 7-4.
The Tigers' pitching and defense kept the game close, not allowing a run to Whitman from the 3rd through the 6th inning. In total, the Tigers held the Whitman offensive efforts to scoring in only 3 of the 9 innings played in Game 2.
The Blues took the win in Saturday's Game 2 by a score of 12-5.
