Box Score Pasadena, CA — The Tigers traveled to Pasadena to play two on Saturday against the Beavers at CalTech's North Field.
Oxy started the scoring quickly, putting up of 7 runs in the 1st inning of the game. Lou Martineau lined a single to start the game, and after two walks and an RBI single by Nolan Upchurch helped load the bases, Jonathan Marshall hit a grand slam to right field to make it a 5-0 ballgame. Following another walk, Miles Capobianco hit an RBI triple to right center to increase the lead to six runs and Martineau hit his second single of the inning to earn an RBI make the score 7-0.
The 2nd inning began with a leadoff double by Jeffery Cambra and a single by Marshall to put runners at the corners for Nicholas Gonzalez, who hit a sacrifice fly to right field to score Cambra and make it a 8-0 game.
In the 4th, the Tigers put together a rally to score 5 more runs. With disciplined at bats and good baserunning, the Tigers had two runners on base when First-Year Matt DiCicco hit his first collegiate home run, a 3 run blast over the left field fence to score Martineau and Ari Solomon to bring the run total to 13 for Oxy.
Pitching proved to be just as strong as the offense during the game as Sophomore Dante Tardino earned the win while going all 7 innings and allowing just 1 earned run. Tardino's performance earned him a quality start and his first win with Occidental as he picked up 7 strikeouts along the way while not walking a batter.
The Tigers win game 2 of the series, 13-1.
