Los Angeles, CA — The Tigers' baseball team was in action for game 1 of a doubleheader against the Lewis and Clark Pioneers on Saturday.
Ari Solomon got the Tigers an early 1-0 lead in the bottom of the 1st with an RBI groundout that scored first year Lou Martineau.
Matthew Uytiococ started the game for the Tigers and pitched well, only allowing 2 earned runs over 4 innings while striking out one. The Pioneers were able to score 6 runs over the first 5 innings and take a 6-1 lead over the Tigers.
Oxy would be able to get on the board again in all of the remaining innings but it was not quite enough to complete the comeback against Lewis and Clark.
In the bottom of the 6th Nolan Upchurch hit a sacrifice fly to score Solomon and in the bottom of the 7th inning Solomon added another RBI with a nice double to left field that scored Tom Stoodt.
Solomon capped off a great offensive game by adding a 2-run home run that scored Miles Capobianco that pulled Oxy within 4 runs in the bottom of the 9th. Despite the Tiger's bats waking up late, the comeback came up short in game 1.
Solomon finished the game with 2 hits, 4 RBIs and 2 runs.
The Pioneers won by a final score of 11-7.
