Box Score Los Angeles, CA — Oxy baseball returned to Anderson Field Saturday morning to finish the series set against the Rochester Yellowjackets.
The game started off with scoring from both sides: Rochester pushed across 2 runs in the top of the 1st inning, taking advantage of difficult plays for the defense, and Oxy answered back with a line drive home run off the bat of Jeffery Cambra. Cambra's 1st home run as a Tiger made the game 2-1.
Strong pitching from both sides of the field kept the score the same until the bottom of the 6th. With a leadoff double by Jonathan Marshall, Miles Capobianco came in to pinch run and his speed proved to be effective. After a flyout to right to move Capobianco to third, he came across the plate and scored on a wild pitch to tie the game at 2-2.
In the bottom of the 8th inning the Tigers began to put together a rally, led by Ari Solomon's single up the middle and Garrett Palme's bunt single that followed. After a sacrifice by Matthew DiCicco moved up the runners, Sancho Llamas singled to left to bring home Solomon and give the Tigers the 3-2 lead.
Oxy pitchers silenced a strong Yellowjacket lineup and only allowed one earned run during the game. Jake Moore threw 7 strong innings for the Tigers in his first start of the year, allowing 6 hits and not allowing an earned run. Wilson Schwegler's recent success on the mound continued, as he threw 3 innings in relief and allowed only 1 earned run. Other notable performances include Cambra's 2-2 day with a home run and 3 walks, as well as Llamas going 3-4 with an RBI.
Rochester's offense came alive when it mattered most, as they scored in the top of the 9th to tie the game and send it to extra innings. In the top of the 10th inning they scored 2 more to give them a 5-3 lead, a lead that they would keep to defeat the Tigers by a score of 5-3.
