Box Score Los Angeles, CA — The Tigers were at Anderson Field Saturday afternoon to prepare for Game 3 and finish the series set against the Rochester Yellowjackets.
The Yellowjackets started the game hot, taking advantage of an early defensive error by hitting a home run to give them the early 2-0 lead. The top of the 3rd inning was more of the same, with another run coming across due to an error, making it a 3-0 Rochester lead.
Oxy answered back in the bottom of the 3rd inning with a leadoff single from Nick Gonzalez and a double down the left field line by Ari Solomon. AJ Naha was able to single to center field and score Gonzalez and Solomon was brought home on a Lou Martineau RBI fielder's choice, closing the gap to Rochester's lead. The lead was snatched by Oxy in the 4th inning on an RBI single by Gonzalez that scored Jonathan Marshall and scored Garrett Palme on an errant throw. After the 4th inning, the Tigers led 4-3.
The Tiger offense exploded for 6 runs in the bottom of the 6th inning, with RBIs from Gonzalez on a double and Solomon on a single to start off the scoring for Oxy. Nolan Upchurch came up clutch with the bases loaded and two outs to hit a bases clearing double, and would eventually score on a bases loaded walk from Matthew DiCicco to give the Tigers a 10-3 lead.
Pitching was strong once again for the Tigers, Jack Winterbauer earned the win by throwing 5 innings in the start and allowed only 1 earned run. Jon Thoren threw the remaining 2 innings, not allowing a run and striking out 3 batters while walking none.
The Tigers cap a weekend of competitive baseball by earning a comfortable win against Rochester by a score of 10-3.
