Orange, CA — The Tigers finished their conference series at Hart Park against the Chapman Panthers on Saturday.
With the exception of the first inning, Game 3 of the conference series was a very even matchup. Chapman got out to an early lead in the bottom of the 1st, but once sophomore Jake Moore took the mound in the 4th inning the Panthers' offense fell silent. Moore went 5 innings in relief, allowing only 3 hits and 1 run to come home while striking out 2.
In a game dominated by pitching on both sides, Jeffery Cambra stood out amongst Tiger hitters. Cambra singled in the 4th and 6th innings, coming home to score the Tigers' lone run on an RBI groundout by Nolan Upchurch. In addition to his offensive performance, Cambra saved a hit with a diving catch in right center field to keep the Chapman offense at bay. Aside from Cambra, Ari Solomon and Sancho Llamas each recorded a single on the day.
Moore's strong performance kept the Tigers in the game, but Chapman's pitching was able to tame the Tiger offense during Game 3 of the series. The Panthers win, 6-1.
