Los Angeles, CA — The Tigers hosted the Whittier College Poets at Anderson Field on Saturday for a conference doubleheader.
Whittier's bats were hot to start the game, as a solo home run in the first inning allowed them to take an early 1-0 lead. Despite the early offense, the Tigers' starter Jake Moore was able to dial in and pitch an impressive game. Moore's outing lasted 7.2 innings, which included 6 Poet strikeouts and keeping the game in reach for the Tigers. His ability to keep Whittier off-balance proved effective in this one.
Garrett Palme recorded a multi hit game for the Tigers, going 2-3 on the day with 2 singles. Ari Solomon reached base 3 times, drawing 2 walks and singling to finish going 1-2 at the plate on the day. Other Tigers to record a hit were Jonathan Marshall, Lou Martineau and Jeffery Cambra.
Despite the strong performances from each of these players, the Poets were victorious in Game 2 as they won by a score of 7-0. The Tigers are back in action later this afternoon to try and win the series in the Game 3 rubber match.
