Tigers Tune Up and Turn Out at NAU

Flagstaff, AZ – Part of the Occidental College track and field team traveled to Northern Arizona University for the NAU Tune Up indoor meet.  With competitors from all over the southwest, the Tigers were determined to show up with some strong performances.

Leading the charge for the Tigers was sophomore Eliza Hawley, who blazed through the women's 60 meter dash, clinching seventh place in the finals with an electrifying time of 7.85.  Hawley's lightning-fast spring set the stage for when she returned to the track for the women's 200 meter dash.  She once again showcased her speed and skill, crossing the finish line in seventh place again with a time of 25.86.  

Not to be outdone, sophomore Delphine Way surged ahead to secure sixth place in the women's 800 meter run with a time of 2:27.80.  

Adding to the Tigers' impressive tally was first year Shane Kawakami-Williams in the men's 200 meter dash.  He crossed the finish line in eighth place with a time of 22.19.

Overall, the track and field teams had a successful showing at the NAU Tune Up and are well prepared for the next meet which will be the Rossi Relays next Saturday, February 24 in Claremont, CA.
