Los Angeles, CA – Earlier this month, the Occidental women's tennis team encountered a formidable opponent in Vassar College, ultimately falling short with a final score of 8-1.
The doubles matches kicked off with intense exchanges and impressive displays of teamwork. Occidental's duo of Kristina Lee and Elina Shalev got an early point for the Tigers with a strong 8-5 win.
However, Vassar responded with vigor, clinching victories in the remaining doubles and singles matches. Despite the loss, Oxy kept the margins narrow and stayed competitive throughout the remainder of the match.
Lee engaged fiercely in a tightly contested battle at number one singles against the national ranked No. 14 E. McCuster. Despite the loss, Lee kept the score close with 6-4, 6-7, 10-4. Julia Chun at number six singles also delivered a commendable effort in her match, engaging in a marathon battle that tested the resolve and endurance of each athlete. Chun fell in a close third-set encounter with a final score of 4-6, 6-3, 7-5.
