Los Angeles, CA – Earlier this month, the U.S.Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) revealed the distinguished recipients of the Indoor Track and Field All-Region honors for the 2024 NCAA Division III season.  Among the esteemed list of student-athletes, Occidental College proudly celebrated the recognition of two exceptional athletes who have exemplified dedication and skill throughout their journey this season.

Shane Kawakami-Williams, a standout first year performer in the men's 400 meter event and sophomore Eliza Hawley, a formidable force in the women's 60 meter sprint, have rightfully earned their place among the best in the West Region.  Their remarkable achievements serve as a testament to their relentless pursuit of excellence and the unwavering support of not only their team, but the Oxy athletics community at large.

Assistant Coach Tyler Yamaguchi commended the outstanding accomplishments of Kawakami-Williams and Hawley, acknowledging their extraordinary work ethic and innate talent.  "Both Shane and Eliza share an exceptional combination of both work ethic and talent, and given that they're still early on in their respective careers, I am very much looking forward to what the future holds for these two special student athletes," remared Coach Yamaguchi.

As they continue to pursue their athletic endeavors in the outdoor track and field season with passion and determination, Kawakami-Williams and Hawley serve as shining examples of the caliber of talent and character fostered within the track and field program.  Please join Oxy Athletics in congratulating Kawakami-Williams and Hawley on their recent award!
