Los Angeles, CA – In a challenging encounter, the Occidental women's tennis team faced off against the formidable nationally ranked No. 1 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps squad. Despite putting up a spirited effort, Oxy ultimately fell short with a final score of 9-0.
The doubles matches kicked off the competition, with CMS exerting dominance early on. Doubles two proved to be a hard-fought battle as Sydney Sasaki and Sebaga Kombo pushed their opponents to a 8-7 score, forcing a tiebreaker, but falling 7-2.
Moving on to the singles matches, Oxy continued to compete against the Athenas. On court one, Kristina Lee battled against Lindsay Eisenman, who is the No. 2 nationally ranked player, before succumbing to a final score of 6-2, 6-4. Elina Shalaev displayed her skill and resilience by taking her opponent to a tiebreaker in the first set of her singles match, but ultimately finished with a final score of 7-6 (7-1), 7-1.
