Los Angeles, CA – In a match that had multiple tiebreakers and third sets, Chapman University edged past Occidental with a final score of 7-2 on April 18, 2024 for the women's tennis team's final match of the season.

Doubles proved to be tightly contested affairs, with Chapman seizing an early advantage by claiming victories in two of the three matchups.  Oxy's duo of Kristina Lee and Elina Shalaev demonstrated their tenacity and skill, securing a hard-fought 8-6 win on court one.

As the competition transitioned to singles matches, Oxy faced a formidable challenge against Chapman's talented lineup.  Singles matches were very tight and contentious.  The Tigers made a determined effort to change the tides to their favor, but the Panthers rallied back when the scores got to close.

On court two, Shalaev provided a bright spot for her team, delivering a commanding performance to win with a score of 6-4, 7-6 (7-4).
