Los Angeles, CA – In a commanding display of skill, the Occidental women's tennis team secured a resounding 7-2 victory over Whittier College on April 12, 2024. From start to finish, Oxy showcased their dominance on the court, claiming key victories in both doubles and singles.
The doubles set the tone for the rest of the competition with Oxy taking an early 2-1 lead. The duo of Kristina Lee and Elina Shalaev delivered a masterful performance on court one to defeat their opponents with a convincing score of 8-2. On court two, Sydney Sasaki and Sebaga Kombo further bolstered Oxy's lead with a hard-fought 8-5 victory. The score was tied 5-5 before they collectively worked together to surge ahead of their opponents.
The momentum continued to favor the Tigers in singles action as Julia Chun was the first off the court with an emphatic performance, swiftly dispacting her opponent with a score of 6-0, 6-0 at number six singles. Sasaki followed Chun with an equally swift 6-0, 6-1 win on court four.
