CLAREMONT, Calif. – Tennis competed for the first time this season as
Tate Ransom and
Elina Shalaev both won their brackets at the ITA West Regional hosted by Claremont-M-S and Pomona-Pitzer from September 27-29.

Ransom, a first-year on the men's team, won Flight C of the men's open singles division, beating teammate and fellow first-year,
Nathan De Silva. Shalaev, a sophomore, won Flight B in the women's open singles division.

Shalaev won five matches and Ransom won four – after a first-round bye – over the three-day tournament to secure their victories. Below are the scores of each match from their victorious weekend.

The semi finals on the men's side of Flight C consisted of three Tigers, including Ransom, De Silva, and Chris Swanson, who fell to De Silva 6-3, 6-3.

Kristina Lee each won matches in Flight A but fell in the round of 16. Miller and doubles partner,
Ronald Chen were two wins away from qualifying for the ITA Cup after reaching the Flight A quarterfinals.Â
