Women's volleyball takes two of three to open 2024 season

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 | Box Score 3 CLAREMONT, Calif. – Women's volleyball opened the 2024 season with a pair of victories in three contests at the Pacific Coast Classic in Claremont, Calif. over the weekend.
 

Game 1 vs. Skidmore – W, 3-1

 
Anna Curtis-Revelle began her career with a big weekend, and even bigger debut, collecting 24 kills across the three games. Curtis-Revelle's best performance came in the opener. She posted 11 kills on 22 attempts, good for a .364 hitting percentage – the highest mark across all Tigers.
 
Ariana Carranza was also a force on the outside, tallying a 16 kill performance.
 
The Tigers started off slow, down 7-1 in the opening set, but rattled off 50 of the game's next 78 points to take the first two frames 26-24, 25-9.
 
Skidmore forced a fourth set, but the Tigers took care of business in the final frame, 25-20.
 

Game 2 vs. Union – L, 3-0

 
Oxy kept it close throughout the first two sets but were plagued by 18 hitting errors. They posted a set-high nine in the first, finishing the set hitting .029.
 
Carranza was the only Tiger to post double-digit kills. She notched two aces as well. Eliana Channell was a force on the net with a game-high three blocks.
 

Game 3 vs. Muhlenberg – W, 3-1

 
The Tigers finished off a winning weekend with another 3-1 victory. Another contest where Oxy started off slow, falling 25-10 in the first set, battled back to win the next three, 25-15, 26-24, 26-24.
 
Carranza posted her best stat line of the tournament with 19 kills and a .441 hitting percentage.
 
The duo of setters Kendall Taylor and Meara Hayes combined for 40 assists, and Leena Albelo led all players with four aces.
 
The Tigers are back at another tournament next weekend. Oxy faces St. Vincent College at La Verne on Friday, and Pacific (Ore.) at Whittier on Saturday. Both games are slated to start at 9 a.m.
