ROME, Ga. – Greta Nagy and Elina Shalaev secured a 6-3, 7-6 (7-3) victory over Lauryn Douglas and Michaella Sullivan of Bethel University to advance to the quarterfinals of the ITA Cup on Thursday, October 16.
 
The duo faced five set points in the second. After trailing 40-15 down 5-4, they rattled off three-straight points to even it up at five. Two games later, the pair was down 40-30 at a 6-5 disadvantage. Shalaev and Nagy took momentum into the set tiebreaker to run away with it at 7-3.
 
Dating back to 2008, no Oxy doubles team has reached the ITA Cup and now the two stand three wins away from the title.
 
A tough task awaits them tomorrow, October 17 against the fourth-ranked team – Trinity Levy and Rosabella Andrade from Trinity (Texas) – a duo that narrowly bested Shalaev and Nagy on March 11, 6-4. The match took place in San Antonio on the Tigers' Spring Break trip to Texas.
