ROME, Ga. – Greta Nagy and Elina Shalaev finished the ITA Cup with a loss in the semifinal to Lia Melvin and Jay Xiao (Johns Hopkins) – 6-4, 3-6, 5-10.
 
The duo earned All-American status after placing in the top four. They were the only doubles team ranked outside of the top 25 in the nation, following ITA's final June ranking, to reach the semis.
 
After picking up a victory in the first set, the Tigers were one set away to a rematch in the ITA Cup final with Claremont-M-S's Lindsay Eisenman and Rebecca Kong, but Melvin and Xiao strung off a victory in the second and the tiebreaker to end Nagy and Shalaev's run.
 
An impressive showing from the Tiger pair – it's the first time in over 20 years Oxy has had a doubles team reach similar heights.
 
The duo will be back in action to start the Spring season on January 30 at San Diego City College.
