CLAREMONT, Calif. – Occidental Track & Field competed at the first-ever SCIAC Quad Cup Qualifier at Claremont-M-S on Saturday, March 1. The top two finishers from each qualifier reach the Quad Cup Championship, while the bottom finishers compete in the consolation round.

The Tigers' men placed third out of five while the women came in fourth.

Oxy's men saw success in sprints, jumps and hurdles, with the Tigers tying for the most points picked up in the 100-meter dash while running away with a meet-best 24 points in the 400 hurdles.

Shane Kawakami-Williams continued his early-season success, winning the 100m dash with a time of 10.85.
Zachary McGraw picked up two points in fifth. The top three 400 hurdlers were all Tigers, with Oxy's
Harrison Williams,
Peter Villano and
Renn Stearns rounding out first through third place.

Another meet-best score in the long jump came from a second place
Duncan Ellis finish and
Emerson Ames third place finish. The duo both jumped over 6.25 meters.
Khylee Jackson,
Jordan Chau and Fred Reed all picked up points in the high jump, giving Oxy another meet-leading total.

On the women's side,
Brooke Tompkins won the 400-meter hurdles by five seconds. The junior finished the race in 1:07.89.
Phoebe Ogden was the only other women's Tiger to earn a victory. She won the 400-meter dash with the only sub-one-minute time – 59.13.

Jenna LeNay and
Megan Cover tallied 12 total points in the 1500-meter run. LeNay placed second and Cover in fourth to lead that category.

Zoey Hrabe cleared 3.37 meters in the pole vault. Her second-place finish was .1 meters off the victory.

The Tigers will compete at the Oxy Distance Carnival – an all-day meet on Saturday, March 8.
