AZUSA and LA VERNE, Calif. – Track and Field competed at the Bryan Clay and Leopard Invites from April 16-18.
Â
The Tigers' top talent faced tough competition at APU in the Bryan Clay Invite, competing at a high-level.
Jack Elfenbaum ran a personal best for the second-straight week, this time a 14:30.32 in the 5000.
Keira Stephany also notched a PR, throwing the javelin nearly three meters further than she has at any point in her first year.
Â
Although
Shane Kawakami-Williams didn't shatter his own school records this week, the junior was stellar, running a 10.56 in the 100 and 21.21 in the 200. Both marks right around career-bests. His qualifying times are still firmly in the mix for outdoor nationals, now 10
th in the 100 and 4
th in the 200.
Â
Over in La Verne,
Kayla Sepulveda notched a pair of personal bests in the discus and hammer throw. Her 41.9 mark in the hammer is fourth in the conference and .17 meters off a potential podium. Sepulveda's new discus, best of 35.18 is eighth in the conference. Sepulveda also threw the shot put at APU on the weekend, an event where she currently ranks second of all SCIAC competitors.
Â
The lone competition victors were
Khylee Jackson and
Jordan Chau, competing in the high jump. The duo each cleared 1.8 at La Verne. Jackson took a trip down Foothill Blvd to compete in the 4x1. He and the Tigers' squad clinched the 20
th best-time in the nation. A different set of Tigers are already 14
th in the event.
