LA VERNE, Calif – Track & Field competed at the Leopard Invitational at La Verne and the Bryan Clay Invite at Azusa Pacific over the weekend.

Three athletes competed at the Bryan Clay Invite, one of Southern California's most prestigious annual track meets, at Azusa Pacific. Renn Stearns on the men's side and Jenna LeNay and Megan Cover on the women's side.

Stearns finished the steeple chase in 9:17.50, ten seconds off his personal best performance at the Mangrum Invitational March 28. In a field with mainly Division I runners he placed 80th.

LeNay competed and placed 51st in the 10,000-meter run, while Cover ran in the 1500. Both also faced tough DI competition.

Down the street in La Verne, the rest of the Tigers took on the Leopard Invitational.

Oliver Yue and Maurice Romanyshyn were the lone victors for the Tigers, both in field events this weekend. Yue's 6.65-meter mark in the long jump paced the field, beating NCAA DII and DIII athletes.

Romanyshyn threw the javelin a meet-best 46.70 meters. His first throw, which went 46.41, would have won the event. Romanyshyn beat three DII throwers.

Phoebe Ogden notched a pair of top 10 finishes in the 100 and 200-meter dashes. She finished fifth with a 26.48 in the 200.

Delphine Wey completed the 400-meter dash as one of six runners that finished the race in under one minute. Wey placed fifth with a 59.51 time. She finished ahead of five DI runners in a field of 19.

Shane Kawakami-Williams picked up a personal-best 48.78 in the 400 meters. His third-place time was over half a second faster than his previous best.

Harrison Williams placed third in the 400 hurdles. His time of 55.30 was the best of all DII and DIII competitors.

Duncan Ellis placed second in the triple jump at 12.37 meters. He was less than .04 meters off his personal best, 12.70.

The Tigers are back in action next weekend, hosting the SCIAC Championships at Bill Henry Track at Jack Kemp Stadium. The meet is scheduled to start at 10:15 a.m. on Saturday and 11 a.m. Sunday. Tickets can be purchased online here.
