LOS ANGELES, Calif. – Occidental Track & Field competed at the SCIAC Championships April 26-27 at Jack Kemp Stadium.
DAY 1
While most events completed prelims on Saturday, Emerson Ames headlined the day as the SCIAC Champion in the long jump. His meet-best 6.81 was .4 meters better than his previous mark that was 13th best in the SCIAC.
His teammate Oliver Yue earned an All-SCIAC second place finish. The 4th-ranked long jumper in the conference went 6.77 meters on his final jump.
Renn Stearns earned the Tigers final All-SCIAC finish of the evening. The senior was second in the steeplechase with a mark of 9:04.58. That was a personal-best by nearly three seconds.

Skylar Cottell, Phoebe Ogden and Elizabeth Hawley qualified for the 400 meter dash finals. Hawley ran the second-fastest mark at the meet – 57.54

Mia Ness moved on to the 800 finals. She nabbed the last spot at 2:21.49.

Jenna LeNay moved on to the 1500 finals and will compete in the 5k finals. Megan Cover advanced to the 1500 finals as well.

Hawley moved on to the 200 finals at a mark of 25.43.

Brooke Tompkins was fourth in the 400 hurdles, with a shot to podium in the finals.

Shane Kawakami-Williams looks to podium in both the 100 and 200 meter dash finals after qualifying in the top-four in each.

Zachary McGraw joins Kawakami-Williams in the 100 finals.

Charles Service qualified for the 400 meter dash finals with a time of 50.65.

Matthew Vickers' 1:57.08 mark got him to the 800 finals.
All told, the Tigers are looking at double-digit podium opportunities headed into day two.
