Kawakami-Williams sets school record at APU Last Chance

LOS ANGELES, Calif. – Track & Field competed at the APU Last Chance meet in Azusa, CA on Friday 9th and Saturday May 10th.
 
Shane Kawaki-Williams headlined the meet for Oxy, running a 10.46 in the 100m to set a new school record and enter a tie for the 19th best time in the nation in the 100m dash. He would take 5th place in the finals with a 10.78.
 
Collin Glick placed 18th in the 200 with a time of 22.23. James Buellesbach and Harrison Williams placed in the top 15 in their respective hurdles events, Buellesbach with a 14.65 in the 110 and Williams with a 54.99 in the 400.
 
Emerson Ames placed 6th in long jump with a 7.22m mark. The men's 4x100 relay team of Kawakami-Williams, Emerson Ames, Zach McGraw, and Khylee Jackson finished 4th overall with a time of 41.14.
 
With the impressive time, Kawakami-Williams is just .02 seconds off moving on to the NCAA Championships in Geneva, OH. 
 
Elizabeth Hawley finished 9th in the 400m by improving from last week's Oxy Invite's time with a 55.77 in the event.
 
Chelsea Groves impressed again with a sixth-place finish in shot put with an 11.94m mark. Groves also placed 14th in discus with a mark of 34.79m
 
Zoey Hrabe improved upon her performance at the Oxy Invite by clearing the 3.43 mark to place 11th in the pole vault. 
 
NCAA WATCHLIST
 
Kawakami-Williams's record-setting performance currently ranks him 19th in the nation in the 100, 
 
James Buellesbach ranks in the top 50 for 110 hurdles with his time of 14.65.
 
The quartet of Khylee Jackson, Shane Kawakami-Williams, Emerson Ames and Zachary McGraw is 45th in the nation in the 4x100 relay, .37 seconds off of a qualifying time.
 
Jenna LeNay is still in the mix for a qualifying time in the 10,000, ranking 23rd nationally.
 
Elizabeth Hawley moved up from 50th to 32nd in the nation in the 400, only .53 behind a qualifying time with a time of 55.77.
 
Renn Stearns is still well within striking distance of qualifying, ranking 19th in the nation in the steeplechase with his school record-setting time of 8:57.51, currently only 2.03 seconds from a qualifying time. 
Emerson Ames comes in at 25th overall in the nation in the long jump with a 7.22m mark, .05 from a qualifying mark. 
 
The Tigers will look to qualify with their performances at the Redlands Last Chance meet Wednesday, May 14 and Thursday, May 15.
