LOS ANGELES, Calif. – Jasmine Shum was named SCIAC Athlete of the Week on Monday, September 29.
 
Shum becomes the first Occidental Women's Volleyball player to earn a SCIAC Athlete of the Week nod since the conference adopted the current nominating system in 2019.
 
The Tigers defeated Chapman – their first SCIAC victory since 2023 – on Saturday behind Shum's impressive play. She played as a full rotation outside, excelling in the back row with 20 digs to match 20 kills. She picked up a block and an ace as well. She earned the match-clinching kill in the fifth set.
 
Shum and the Tigers carry a 1-0 SCIAC record into a week with three matches, first on Tuesday, September 30 at Whittier followed by a Friday home game against Pomona-Pitzer then road game with CMS on Saturday.
