New Orleans, La. – Tyler Yamaguchi was named USTFCCCA Regional Assistant Coach of the Year for the West Region on Thursday, March 19.
 
Yamaguchi, an assistant coach with the program since the 2007 season, received the honors after helping coach 10 USTFCCCA All-Region athletes, including Shane Kawakami-Williams who reached the Indoor National Championships a week ago.
 
Kawakami-Williams and James Buellesbach, who Yamaguchi coached in the 60m hurdles, led the West Region in their three events.
 
Yamaguchi and the Tigers are back in action on Friday, March 20 at Redlands.
