LOS ANGELES, Calif. – Men's tennis split Saturday's doubleheader with Whitman and Stanton on March 2, earning a victory over Whitman, 6-1.

Match 1 – W vs. Whitman, 6-1

It was a big victory for
Tate Ransom in the first singles slot, defeating No. 10 Alexander Stage, 6-0, 1-6, 7-6 (7-2). Ransom is 4-1 in matches against Division III players this year, with wins over two top 20 players.

Ronald Chen beat No. 29 Artem Manov in straight sets, 6-2, 6-4.
Mason Hart earned the clinching point in six singles with a 6-4, 3-6, 6-2 victory.

Benjamin Burrows and
Jack Yurich also earned singles wins. Burrows dominated to a 6-1, 6-1 win, while Yurich came out on top in three sets, 6-3, 0-6, 6-4.

In doubles, the second and third squads (Ransom/Hart and
Dhruv Verma/Yurich) both won 6-4.

Match 2 – L vs. Stanton, 5-2
Â
The Tigers dropped three of the singles matches in three sets as the Tigers battled through their second match of the day.
Mason Hart earned his second win of the day, coming back to win his match 2-6, 6-2, 6-4.
Nabih Farhat notched a win in sixth singles 6-3, 6-1.

The Tigers were a 7-5 loss away from earning the doubles points, but Hart and Ransom won in the one spot 6-4.

Men's Tennis is back in action on Monday against Colby at 4 p.m.
