BURBANK, Calif. (Feb. 9, 2008) – Coming
off a season opening 5-4 victory over non-conference Hope
International, the Occidental College women's tennis team
continued their winning ways with an 8-1 victory over Cal Lutheran
University in the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic
Conference opener today at the Burbank Tennis Center.
Oxy took all three of the double events as
Danielle Siegler and Marissa
Cassman won 8-0 while the Tiger teams of Alayna
Santos and Jennifer Wahba and
Kisa Ito and Taylor Kaplan each
defeated their opponents 8-2.
Cassman and Siegler went on to defeat the
Regals' Kate Dehmer and Kelsey Lirastro
respectively, by 6-1, 6-0 margins. Wahba turned in a 6-1, 6-3 win
while Kaplan was victorious 6-3, 6-1. Santos struggled in the
second set but, came back strong to win, posting scores of 6-3,
4-6, 3-0.
Oxy returns to action on Friday, Feb. 15 when
they travel to Pasadena, Calif. to take on the Caltech Beavers at
2:00 p.m.
