REDLANDS, Calif. (April 18, 008) – The 2008 women's tennis team played in day one of the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference tournament today hosted by the University of Redlands. The Tigers fell in the opening round, but bounced back with a Second Round win in the afternoon.

Occidental, the # 4 seed entering the day, opened the tournament with a competitive match against the University of La Verne, but fell just short, being upset, 5-4, by the # 5 Leopard.

On April 12 the Tigers defeated the Leos by a score of 8-1 with the only ULV victory coming on a default.

During the afternoon session Oxy cruised to an 8-1 victory over Caltech.

Tomorrow the Tigers will face the # 6 Regals from Cal Lutheran as the teams battle for fifth place.

Seventh-place Match:  #7 Whittier vs. #8 Caltech at Redlands East Valley HS

The All-SCIAC teams will be announced following tomorrow's matches during a luncheon for the teams at the University of Redlands.
