CLAREMONT, Calif. (Mar. 28, 2009)
– It was another tough outing for the Tigers, as they faced a
tough SCIAC rival in the form of the Claremont Stags. The host Stags dominated from
the outset, handing the Tigers a disappointing 9-0
loss.
Claremont had it going early,
sweeping all three doubles matches by a combined score of
24-3. In singles it
was more of the same, as Claremont swept through the first four
rounds in dominating fashion, until the fifth match. Victor Sowers played
great, taking the first set 7-6, before falling 4-6 in the second
and then losing a heartbreaking third 7-6 by a score of 10-8 in the
tie break.
Next up for Occidental (3-7, 1-4)
will be Chapman University at 2pm, on Friday, April 3rd,
at Chapman.
