ORANGE, Calif. – Oxy traveled to Orange County this
morning to take on the Chapman University Panthers. The
15th ranked team in the country overwhelmed the Tigers,
sending them home with an 8-1 loss.
The Tigers struck early, as Rachel Washtien and
Emily Wilde battled back to win 8-6 in the final
doubles match. Cutting the Panthers lead to one heading into
singles action, and more importantly, regaining some confidence
after watching Chapman sweep the first two matches 8-0.
But it was the Panthers who picked up the pace in singles play,
sweeping six straight matches to close out the day.
Oxy (2-9, 0-2) will return to action Sunday morning when they
travel to Whittier College for an 11am Southern California
Intercollegiate Athletic Conference dual match.
