PASADENA — Avery Chernin battled back from a recent shoulder injury to win at No. 3 singles and No. 2 doubles as the Occidental men's tennis team earned its first victory of the season, winning at Caltech 6-3 on Saturday.

Chernin took down Morgan Lebby 4-6, 6-4, 6-2 in impressive fashion. He then teamed up with partner Eric Kazangian to beat Ishan Mehta and Alexander Henny 8-1.

Oxy won five of the six singles matches and one of the three doubles. 

The Tigers, now sitting at 1-1 and the West Region's No. 14-ranked team, return to action on Feb. 20, hosting Chapman at Scholl Canyon at 2 p.m.
