LOS ANGELES — Alexis Funaki pitched three perfect innings and had an RBI-double, leading the Occidental softball team to a 5-4 win over Puget Sound at Bell Field on Sunday.
Samantha Yee got the big hit in the fifth. Oxy was trailing 4-3 when Yee's single to center field scored Bailey Stevens and Stephanie Stamnes.
Funaki's double brought in a run in the third, cutting the Loggers' lead to 4-3.
Oxy got its first two runs in the bottom of the first when Alex Battest singled in a pair.
Stevens finished the game 1 for 3, Cora Roberts went 1 for 2 with a run scored, Mackensie Priley was 1 for 4 with a run scored and Nyla Gatison went 2 for 4 for the Tigers.
Erica Gott was charged with the loss for Puget Sound.
The Loggers edged the Tigers 2-1 in eight innings in the first game of the doubleheader between the teams on Sunday morning.
Season Impact: The Tigers improve to 2-6 on the season.
Puget Sound falls to 3-3.
Next Game: Oxy begins SCIAC play at La Verne on Feb. 18.
