Los Angeles, CA – The Oxy women's tennis team fell to the Trinity University of San Antonio Friday night. Currently ranked #19 in the country, the Trinity women are a team to beat, but the Oxy women put up a tough fight. The duel lasted four hours and there were several close matches. Both #1 doubles (Sarah Fleming/ Andei Fukushige) and #3 doubles (Emma Silber/Katie Wolber) had opportunities to close it out but fell short 6-8 in their pro-sets.

Junior Andei Fukushige took away a set in her singles match at the #2 spot. She fought hard in the 2-6, 6-3, 3-6 loss, a match filled with long rallies. At #6 singles sophomore Adithi Benush also battled until the end in her career opener, falling short in a second set tiebreaker.

Both Xavi Campbell, #4 Singles, and Sarah Fleming, #1 Singles, held on tight for their matches, pressuring the opposing Trinity team to earn each point. Their matches also featured long, cross court rallies, and several deuce games.

Oxy's new head coach, Tim Gray, said of the match: "The team showed a lot of heart today, going toe to toe with a top 25 program.  I saw many positives throughout the four-hour match.  We will learn from this one and get back at it tomorrow at Pomona-Pitzer."

Next Match: Oxy faces Pomona-Pitzer on Saturday at 2 PM.
