Claremont, CA — The Occidental women's tennis team faced challenging competition at the end of April when they traveled to Claremont to compete against nationally ranked No. 3 CMS.
Although the Tigers fell 9-0, the team was able to push the Athena's in many of the singles and doubles matches. In singles, Andei Fukushige took on Sarah Bahsoun in the number one spot, going 6-3 and 6-4. In the third spot, Alexis Matabuena was able to go 6-3 and 6-2 against Arushi Malik.
In doubles, Sarah Fleming and Fukushige went 8-3 to Crustal Juan and Sena Selby. Dana Edson and Matabuena scored 8-4 against Ella Brissett and Audrey Yoon.
All in all, the Tigers showed a lot of determination and promise for the future with their ability to score on a tough opponent.
