On Saturday, Occidental's Women's Tennis Team came out hot to defeat College of the Canyons in their second match of the season. The Tigers had a big win, 8-1 over the Cougars to keep their winning streak going.
The match featured a doubles sweep by the Tigers to give them an early lead. Partners Andei Fukushige and Sarah Fleming had a strong match in the one spot to win 8-1 to grab the first point for the team. All six seniors started in doubles and won to give the team a 3-0 lead going into the singles portion of the match.
Junior Alexis Matabhena won at number one in singles with an easy two set match, 6-1, 6-2. First-Year Nicole Anderson didn't drop a game in her singles match in the five spot, winning 6-0, 6-0 both sets to secure a quick point for the Tigers. Final Score 8-1 Tigers.
The Women's Tennis Team will have their next match on Saturday, February 25th at 2pm where they will face Colorado College at home. Go Tigers!
