Los Angeles, CA – Seven outstanding track and field athletes traveled to Flagstaff, Arizona to compete in an indoor meet hosted by Northern Arizona University. For many of these athletes, this was their first time competing indoors. Regardless of the pre-meet jitters, the drastically different weather conditions, and the elevation change, all of the Tigers represented Oxy very well.
Baruch Goodman, Jack Spencer, Jacob Torres, and Jonah Magill were the four male athletes competing in the 200 and 400 meter dashes. Goodman raced his way into the top 10 for the 200 meter dash with a time of 22.86 seconds. Spencer ran the 200 meter in 23.72. Additionally, Torres found himself in sixth place in the 400 meter dash at a speedy 50.86 seconds. Magill followed with a time of 52.55.
Bridget Ferguson, Eliza Hawley, and Francesca Candelieri represented Oxy's women's team. Ferguson leaped her way into the top 10, finding herself in seventh for high jump at 1.47 meters. Hawley truly outdid herself in the 400 meter dash, placing her ninth overall with an amazing 1.00.61. Candelieri ran the 200 meter in 27.89.
The next meet for the entire track and field team will be on Saturday, February 11 against Pomona-Pitzer for the annual Oxy/Pomona-Pitzer Dual Meet.
