The Occidental Men's Tennis Team traveled out to Redlands over the weekend for a competitive match against the Bulldogs. The teams proved to be a challenge for each other, as the Tigers are ranked 31st and the Bulldogs 35th in the nation for Division III. In the Doubles portion of the match, Matthew O'Connor and Seth Lipe pushed their number one doubles match to the last point before just falling 8-7.
Entering the singles portion of the match, Senior Matthew O'Connor won 7-6,7-6 at the number one singles match against the 10th ranked player in the West region of Division III. First-Year Ronald Chen came back after a loss in the first set to win his match at the number two singles match in three sets, going 1-6,7-5,10-8 to grab another point for the Tigers. First-Year Quentin Kemna clinched the third point for the team, after winning 6-4,6-2 in the number six singles match.
The Tigers have two more conference matchups before they finish off their spring season. They will travel to Cal Lutheran on Tuesday, April 18th for their next match.
